Every child and family is different.
The best approach depends on your child's age, development, needs, your goals, and what will be most helpful for your family.
We can adjust the balance of child therapy, parent involvement, in-home support, and parent coaching as needed.

Support where real life happens.
Sometimes the most useful information isn't what happens in a therapy office.
It's what happens when your child is getting ready.
Leaving the house.
Playing with a sibling.
Transitioning between activities.
Getting ready for bed.
In-home therapy allows me to see your family in your natural environment and provide support that is grounded in the realities of your everyday life.
In-home sessions may include child therapy, parent coaching, parent-child work, observation, or a combination depending on your goals.
I know having a therapist come into your home can feel a little vulnerable. You might be thinking, “Oh god, she's going to see my house and my parenting and my child at their worst.”
But that's actually part of the point. I'm not coming to see the polished version of your family. I'm coming to understand what life actually looks like for you.
If you choose to invite me into your home, my promise is to love your pets, step over the toys, and not bat an eye at the mess.
In-home services are available in Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo and surrounding communities.

A therapeutic space for your child - with you still part of the process.
Child-focused therapy gives your child dedicated space to play, communicate, explore, and work through their experiences with a therapist.
For young children, play can provide an important way of communicating experiences and feelings that may be difficult to express with words.
Parents remain an important part of the process through regular consultation and support connecting the work to home.
This may be a good fit when:

Learn new ways of connecting and responding.
In parent-child sessions, we work together.
I may help you notice your child's cues, understand what is happening beneath a difficult moment, and practice new ways of responding.
The goal isn't to teach you how to "control" your child.
It's to help you feel more confident navigating difficult moments while strengthening your relationship.

Sometimes the most helpful place to start is with you.
You don't need to bring your child to every conversation.
Parent coaching provides dedicated time to talk through what is happening at home, understand patterns, and explore new ideas.
We can work on things like:
Virtual Parent Support
Virtual parent sessions can provide space to reflect, problem-solve, and receive ongoing support. This can be especially helpful when you have a specific situation you want to work through or need support putting therapeutic ideas into practice at home.
You don't need to figure that out before contacting me.
We'll talk about your child's needs, what's happening at home, and what you're hoping will change.
From there, we'll determine what kind of support makes the most sense.
Therapy is an investment in your family, and I want you to know what to expect before getting started.
Fees are HST exempt and considered a medical expense by the CRA. Services are covered by many extended health benefit plans as services are provided by a Registered Social Worker.
