Autistic children often experience the world as overwhelming, unpredictable, or exhausting to navigate. What may be labeled as “challenging behaviour” is often a response to sensory overload, anxiety, communication differences, or unmet support needs.
This work does not aim to change who your child is. Instead, therapy focuses on supporting regulation, reducing stress, strengthening connection, and helping families better understand what their child’s behaviour is communicating.
Parent involvement is central. When parents understand why behaviours occur and how to respond in attuned, supportive ways, children feel safer—and meaningful change becomes possible.
Throughout this page, I use identity-first language (e.g., “autistic child”). This reflects the preferences expressed by many autistic adults and aligns with neurodiversity-affirming practice. I also respect that families and individuals may use different language, and I follow each family’s preferences in sessions.
